Finally a Cheap And Cheerful place for Sushi - Sushi Mentai Dataran C180

When it comes to Japanese food, one thing for sure. It will not be cheap. But somehow, Sushi Mentai manage to break that rule.

Sushi Mentai Dataran C180 Balakong Cheras Branch.

At RM1.80 to RM2.80 per plate of sushi, we can now enjoy sushi for lunch.

Sushi for RM1.80 and RM2.80 ( Cheap compared to Sushi King and Sakae Sushi )

Sushi. Plenty to choose from.

Chicken with teriyaki sauce. Sweet and tasty. Portion is big enough. At least for me.

Comes with Miso Soup. No fancy decoration tho.

Raw salmon salad. For those who wish to have a healthy meal.

All these at around RM40.00++

Overall the taste is surprisingly good. Considering the affordable price. Especially some of the sushi. It has a smoked flavor in it.

For those who fancy a nice affordable Japanese, now here is one place you hardly find anywhere else.

Popojia Cafe at Dataran C180 Balakong Cheras Malaysia

21st April 2017 - Another new place that we managed to try out. Popojia Cafe Dataran C180 Cheras Balakong. 

^ They have an outdoor seating section. 

^ Large and cozy environment 

^ More of a Hipster style decorations. Something similar to Tea Code Cafe Dataran C180

^ A nice seating area here for customers who like to chill out sitting on the floor

^ More decorations with fruits and veges

The menu is simple. You will need to go to the counter to view them. Is kind of difficult as you will need to tilt your head up and strain your neck. I would suggest that they have a few printed ones on the counter for easier viewing.

Below is what we ordered.

 ^ Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken @ RM 9.90

Nasi lemak was nice. But to be honest. Its not the best I had so far. But its surely not bad at all.

^ Tom Yam Mihun @ RM5.90

^ It also comes with its own "sambal"

Tom Yam mihun was tasty. Surprisingly not that dry as I would expect. 

^ Red Bean Dessert

The Red Bean Dessert is a "must try". Tasty, sweet and thick and creamy.

Total with drink and all for 3 person is about RM40.00 including GST. The food is not that bad on the price. In fact its quite reasonable. The drinks however, is on the high side in my opinion. Especially for the 3 in 1 coffee which is not that tasty. But overall, if you just go there for a decent meal, and maybe perhaps skip the drinks. Its a fairly nice place to enjoy the cozy ambiance and comfort. Oh and one thing we notice is the music they played. In my opinion I thinks its a bit too emotional and sad. They should play something more cheerful or perhaps classic.

Zip Bap Korean Barbecue Restaurant - Dataran C180 Cheras

*** Updated 18th May 2017 - Unfortunately they no longer having the RM9.90 Lunch set. The price is now RM35.00 for a lunch buffet. 

10th April 2017 - Not our usual cheapskate lunch. This time, we tried out Zip Bap Korean Barbecue Restaurant that has been opened for quite sometime. We were interested at their RM9.90 lunch promotion set. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a "chow chow" and a "Shih Tzu" dog.

SO, what is this RM9.90 promotion all about. Basically, its just RM9.90 per plate of meat selection from spicy pork, chicken and others. We suggested that they label the dishes so it would be easier for diners to choose and recommend. And with that plate of meat, there will be the usual Korean side dishes like "kimchi" and such.

In this case, 5 side dishes.

And comes with a soup as well. No idea what sup it was, but its on the sour side.

After you have decided, you can take as many amount of rice as you want. Just remember not to be too ambitious but rubbish and over took.

A variety of sauces

A good selections of ice cream

The waiter will assist you on the cooking part and cook along side your table.

Comes with a free flow of tea as well. 

And the price. Was amazingly affordable. Food was nice too and the Korean lady boss was very friendly

Over all was a good dining experience and stupidly unbelievable its all under RM30.00 for 3 person. It literally set the new record for our most affordable cheapskate lunch here at Dataran C180 Balakong Cheras

A Western Dinner at Riverside Grill & Bar, Dataran C180

31st March 2017 - Riverside Grill & Bar, Dataran C180 Balakong Cheras. Its been quite sometime since Riverside Grill & Bar started operation. Located just opposite our studio, we usually peep at them from our studio window. 

And because one of our colleague's birthday fall on this month and Riverside Grill & Bar does have a special birthday promo. We decided to try it out.

Here is how the birthday promotion works. You get a free meal on your exact birthday (T&Cs applies) or a 20% off if its your birthday month.

^ Grilled chicken chop with tiger prawn

A generous amount of Tartar Sauce for the Fish And Chips

Do expect to wait for a little while. Not recommended if you need a quick one. And the place its a bit too hot sitting outside especially this hot weather season and when there are no wind. Baby friendly wise, well it depends on whether your baby is the "cant tolerate the heat" kind like ours. Or maybe can opt to sit inside instead of outside. Not sure if it will be cooler inside. Price wise, nothing un usual. Portion is reasonably big in my opinion. Non the less, Here at River Side Grill & Bar, its a nice place to satisfy your craving for western food here at Dataran C180, Balakong Cheras.
